European open banking gives applications a route to authorized account data, but coverage is not uniform. Check your bank’s exact entity and supported account types, then choose a destination such as ChatGPT, Claude, Actual Budget, or YNAB.

Each country page lists institutions from Synci’s live directory. Use those pages to inspect your own bank; a country page can include coverage limitations and should not be read as a claim that every domestic bank is available.
What to check on the bank page
For groups such as SpareBank 1, choose the actual regional bank. For banks operating in several countries, select the country in which your account is held. Those choices can lead to different connection flows and available data.
- The correct entity: retail, business, card, and regional-bank entries can be separate.
- Account types: card support is listed separately; not every account visible in online banking is exposed.
- Initial history: the institution determines how far back the first import can go.
- Consent duration: expect to authorize again when the bank requires it.
- Current availability: a listed institution may be temporarily unavailable.
Connect the bank to the task
Bank refresh and destination behavior are separate. Synci refreshes upstream data; a budgeting destination may import it, while an AI assistant reads it on demand. Choose the destination guide to understand what happens after the bank connection is established.
Europe is a geography, not a single API
A provider’s country coverage, the applicable regulatory framework, and the bank’s supported products are different facts. EU and EEA account-data access, UK connections, and other markets should not be treated as identical.

If you are building an application
Compare direct provider access with a managed API only after checking the institutions and data you need. Test consent renewal and stale-data handling as well as the first successful request. Those details matter more to a useful application than a broad coverage headline.
