Plaid in Europe: check the product, then the bank
Plaid provides financial-data connectivity for applications, including European bank connections. Its European coverage documentation makes a key distinction: products are not available uniformly across every country and institution.

European coverage is product-specific
Plaid states that it has direct integrations with nearly 2,000 European financial institutions. Its coverage documentation lists product availability by country.
Plaid says its European coverage explorer is updated approximately quarterly. It directs developers to the /institutions/get endpoint or the Dashboard’s Institutions page for the most complete, current institution information.

How developers start an integration
Developers can sign up for a Plaid Dashboard account to obtain API keys. Sandbox uses test credentials; Production connects to live institutions.
Plaid Link is the client-side account-linking component. The quickstart exchanges its public token on the server for an access token used in subsequent API calls.
When Plaid is the better fit
Plaid may suit a team that wants to integrate its products directly or already operates an application using its infrastructure. If your app’s existing bank sync works, an additional service may add no value.

Building an app for your users?
If your product is a budgeting or personal finance app, you can build on Synci’s managed connections. Synci Managed apps connect your users’ bank and brokerage accounts through a Synci-hosted portal. Your users do not need a Synci account.

- Do not assume universal coverage. Plaid directs developers to check supported products by country and financial institution in its coverage explorer.
- Can Synci fill a gap in an app’s bank sync?
- Only when Synci supports the bank and the app has a compatible Synci destination or import protocol. Verify both ends of the connection before signing up.
