Actual Budget bank sync without your own Enable Banking application
Synci gives Actual Budget a SimpleFIN source for supported European banks. Connect the bank in Synci, choose the accounts to share, and paste the Synci setup token into Actual’s SimpleFIN bank sync. You do not need to create an Enable Banking application for this route.

Connect Synci to Actual Budget
Check your bank and Actual server
Use Synci’s directory to find your bank. Run an Actual server with SimpleFIN support; a browser-only budget cannot perform server-side bank sync.
Authorize the bank in Synci
Complete the bank’s authorization flow. Check the imported accounts, balances, and available history before sharing them.
Create the destination and token
Add the Actual Budget destination in Synci, select the accounts to share, and copy its SimpleFIN setup token. Treat the token as a secret.
Configure SimpleFIN in Actual
In Actual’s bank-sync setup, choose SimpleFIN and paste the token. Link each returned account to the appropriate existing budget account or create a new one.
Run Bank Sync and reconcile
Run Actual’s Bank Sync to fetch the latest data available in Synci. Review the first imported period and balance, especially if you have used a different source before.

What this does not change
- Synci refreshes from the bank on its own schedule, subject to bank limits. Actual retrieves that data when you run Bank Sync.
- History, pending transactions, and card accounts depend on the bank and on what the destination can import.
- SimpleFIN is a protocol; you do not also need a SimpleFIN Bridge subscription for the accounts supplied by Synci.
- If Actual already uses another SimpleFIN source, review your existing setup before replacing its credentials. Do not assume it accepts several setup tokens side by side.
When to keep Enable Banking
Keep the native Enable Banking route if it supports your banks, works with your Actual version, and you are comfortable managing the application and credentials. Synci is an option for reducing that setup work or reusing a connection with other destinations, not a requirement for using Actual Budget.
Questions and answers
- Does Synci push transactions into my Actual server?
- No. Synci refreshes the bank data it holds; Actual pulls the available data through SimpleFIN when you run Bank Sync. Your Actual server does not need an inbound connection from Synci.
- Will changing provider preserve my budget history?
- Do not assume an automatic migration. Back up the budget, link to the intended existing accounts, and review overlapping history and identifiers after importing. Keep your old connection until you have checked the new result.
