Looking for a GoCardless Bank Account Data alternative?
Synci is an alternative to building and maintaining your own Bank Account Data integration when you want European bank data in apps or AI assistants. It uses upstream providers including GoCardless, so it is a managed product layer, not a replacement bank connectivity network.

Why people are looking for another route
Actual Budget reports that GoCardless stopped accepting new Bank Account Data accounts in July 2025 and that existing accounts should continue working. If you are following an older setup guide, that change may explain why you cannot complete it.
Synci uses upstream bank providers
Synci uses GoCardless as one of its upstream providers. Choosing Synci changes how you manage and use your bank data; it does not create an independent route around every GoCardless or bank limitation. Bank availability, consent renewal, history depth, and request limits still apply.
The added product layer includes managed connections, normalized account and transaction data, rules, optional enrichment, account selection, API access, and destinations such as SimpleFIN and MCP.
Choose the alternative for your actual task
| What you need | Route to consider | Work you take on |
|---|---|---|
| Keep a working GoCardless integration | Continue with your existing access | Maintain your current integration and credentials |
| Build your own bank-data application | Evaluate a direct provider such as Enable Banking | Provider setup, consent flow, data handling, and destination code |
| Get transactions into Actual Budget | Synci through Actual’s SimpleFIN support | Connect your bank, share accounts, and paste a setup token |
| Use your data with AI and several apps | Synci’s destinations and MCP access | Choose the accounts and access granted to each destination |
A practical way to evaluate Synci
Check coverage first
Find the exact bank entity in Synci’s directory. Check card support, available history, and consent renewal on its page.
Connect and inspect
Authorize the connection through the bank’s login flow and review the accounts and transactions available in Synci.
Choose a destination
Share selected accounts with your budgeting app or AI assistant. For custom software, evaluate the Synci API against your required data fields.
When a direct provider is the better choice
Use a direct provider if owning the connectivity integration is a requirement, you need provider-specific features Synci does not expose, or your current API implementation already does the job. Synci is not a drop-in replacement for GoCardless API endpoints or credentials.
Questions and answers
- Does Synci work if I cannot create a new GoCardless account?
- Using Synci does not require your own GoCardless developer account. You create a Synci account and connect a supported bank through Synci’s managed flow. Verify current bank availability before choosing it.
- Will Synci bypass an upstream bank outage?
- No. A managed connection remains dependent on its bank and provider. It can simplify setup and management, but it cannot promise data the upstream connection does not supply.
