Connect Bux to AI assistants
Connect to Synci's MCP server so AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity can securely read your portfolio balances and trades.

Questions that reach past one account, one statement period, or the merchant names your bank sends.

Setup
How it works
Connect securely
Log in through Bux's own authentication flow. Synci never sees or stores your credentials.
Pick accounts
Choose which Bux accounts your assistant is allowed to read. Everything else stays invisible to it.
Add the MCP server
Add Synci's MCP server URL as a connector in Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Grok, then sign in. Setup differs per client, so each has its own page with exact steps.
Ask anything
Your assistant reads the latest synced balances, holdings and trades from the Bux accounts you picked, and answers in plain language.
Features
Everything, end to end.
From
Bux
- Secure read-only connection with automatic portfolio syncing
- Account balances, holdings, and positions
- Trade history, dividends, and corporate actions
To
AI assistants
- Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or any MCP-compatible assistant
- Ask about your spending, balances, holdings, and connections in natural language
- Read-only by design, assistants can never move money or change anything
- You choose exactly which accounts each assistant can access
- Sensitive identifiers like account numbers and IBANs are always stripped
- Connect with a standard sign-in, no API keys, and disconnect anytime
Scope
Exactly what an assistant can and cannot do with Bux.
Assistants reach your Bux account through five read-only tools, and nothing else.
- list_accounts
- get_account_balance
- list_transactions
- list_holdings
- list_connections
AI assistants can
- List the accounts you shared, across banks, brokerages and crypto exchanges
- Read recent balance snapshots, with the timestamp they were taken
- Read transactions in a date range you or it asks for
- Read investment and crypto holdings: symbol, quantity, market value
- Check the health of your connections, so it can tell you when data is stale
AI assistants cannot
- Move money, make payments, or place trades
- Change anything at all: the server is read-only and has no write operations
- See accounts you did not share, or reach your bank directly
- See your bank login, which never leaves your bank's own flow
- See sensitive identifiers: IBAN, BBAN, card numbers, phone numbers and owner names are omitted
Enrichment is opt-in and separate from this: when you turn it on, only pseudonymised transaction data reaches our enrichment provider, and it is never used to train models or shared with unrelated third parties. See our privacy policy for the detail.

Thank you so much for Synci! Not being able to automate my budget for 3 months definitely made me realise just how valuable YNAB is to me, and I'm incredibly glad and relieved that I found a service that makes everything work again.

FAQ
Common questions
Yes, once you connect Bux to Synci and choose which accounts to share. You add Synci's MCP server as a connector in your assistant, and it can then read balances, holdings and trade history from those accounts. The assistant never reaches Bux itself; it only sees what Synci has already synced.
No, and it has no way to. Synci's MCP server exposes five read-only tools and no write operations at all, so there is nothing for an assistant to call that would buy, sell, transfer or withdraw. Connecting Bux to an assistant cannot move a single share.
The accounts you shared, recent balance snapshots with the time they were taken, your holdings as symbol, quantity and market value, trade history in a date range, and whether the connection has gone stale. It cannot see accounts you did not share, and sensitive identifiers are stripped before anything reaches it.
Assistants read your latest synced data on demand rather than being sent updates. Synci polls Bux every hour to every 6 hours depending on your plan, so positions and balances reflect the most recent sync rather than a live quote at the moment you ask.
ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, and any other MCP-compatible client. You add Synci's MCP server URL as a connector and sign in, with no API keys to manage. Each assistant has its own page here with step-by-step setup for that client.
Yes, at any time. You choose which Bux accounts each assistant can see, you can change that selection later, and you can disconnect an assistant from Synci entirely without touching the brokerage connection itself.
No. Authentication happens in Bux's own login flow through a secure data provider, so your credentials are never shared with Synci, and never with your assistant.
Synci currently connects to Bux through SnapTrade, a secure data provider. Providers handle the technical connection to the brokerage; your login credentials stay between you and Bux, and your assistant sees neither.

The Bux connection is the same in every one of them. Only the setup differs, and each has its own page with exact steps.
Bank data in ChatGPT
Synci is published in ChatGPT's directory, so setup takes a minute: search for Synci, click Install, then sign in. ChatGPT can then pull your real balances, transactions, and holdings into a conversation.
Bank data in Claude
Add Synci's MCP server URL as a custom connector in Claude and sign in with your Synci account. Claude can then read the accounts you allow and work through up to two years of transactions, where your bank provides it: year-over-year comparisons, net worth across institutions, or where a category quietly grew.
Bank data in Perplexity
Perplexity supports MCP connectors too: add Synci's MCP server, sign in, and ask about your balances, transactions, and holdings alongside Perplexity's web research, all read-only and limited to the accounts you pick.
Bank data in Grok
Go to grok.com/connectors, choose New Connector and then Custom, and enter Synci's MCP server URL. After you sign in, Grok can read the accounts you shared. On Grok Business and Enterprise a team admin provisions the connector first.
