A Nordigen alternative for the project you want to build

Nordigen became part of GoCardless after its 2022 acquisition. If an old Nordigen tutorial no longer works for a new account, first decide whether you need a direct banking API or simply a reliable way to use your own bank data in another tool.

Follow the product, not the old brand name

GoCardless identifies Nordigen as its 2022 acquisition; the account-data product now has GoCardless documentation. Actual Budget also flags that the new-account signup path stopped in July 2025. Neither fact means every existing Nordigen-era integration has stopped working.

What changes when you switch to Synci?

Your code will not keep using the same provider endpoints. With Synci, you authorize a new managed connection and use a Synci destination or the Synci API. Existing provider secrets and account identifiers are not a portable setup token.

For a personal dashboard, check the API’s account and transaction fields before changing your importer. For a budget, back up the budget, link to the correct existing accounts, and inspect the first import for overlapping transactions. Switching sources can change identifiers and requires reconciliation.

Synci uses upstream bank providers

Synci uses GoCardless as one of its upstream providers. Choosing Synci changes how you manage and use your bank data; it does not create an independent route around every GoCardless or bank limitation. Bank availability, consent renewal, history depth, and request limits still apply.

The added product layer includes managed connections, normalized account and transaction data, rules, optional enrichment, account selection, API access, and destinations such as SimpleFIN and MCP.

When another direct API makes more sense

If the goal of your project is learning bank integration or controlling the provider-specific lifecycle, evaluate direct API providers and their current access terms. Enable Banking is one option to investigate; it also has a separately documented integration in Actual Budget.

If the goal is using your data, Synci lets you start with a managed connection and choose a destination. That keeps the work focused on your dashboard, analysis, or budget rather than building every connection screen and downstream integration.

Questions and answers

Is Synci a renamed Nordigen service?
No. Synci is a separate managed financial-data product. It uses upstream connectivity providers, including GoCardless, and adds its own account management, API, rules, and destinations.
Can I reuse my Nordigen credentials in Synci?
The Synci setup does not ask you to bring Nordigen or GoCardless developer credentials. Connect your bank through Synci and use the credentials or setup flow for the destination you choose.
